Very excited to invite you to Gladstone Gallery for the Keith Haring – Pop Shop Drawings exhibition followed by a lecture by Christiane Struyven (personally one of the most interesting lectures I attended).
Keith Haring is an artist who doesn’t need an introduction - the exhibition will show works on paper made for his iconic Pop Shop, which have not been shown since they were created in the late 1980s. The drawings on view include both familiar and lesser known motifs: human figures in space, barking dogs, swimming dolphins, scissors, industrial machines, and angels.
Following the tour of the exhibition, Christiane Struyven will discuss the 12 icons of contemporary art going from pop-art, minimalism, conceptualism, arte povera, neo-expressionism, Düsseldorf Schule für Fotografie, the Young British Artists. Works by established artists such as Andy Warhol, Donald Judd, Bruce Nauman, Giuseppe Penone, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Cindy Herman, Gerhard Richter, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marlene Dumas, Louise Bourgeois, Andreas Gursky and Damien Hirst as shown and explained.
